Yacht-Club Bayer Leverkusen e.V.

Yacht-Club Bayer Leverkusen e.V.The Bayer Leverkusen Yacht Club (Y.C. Bayer Lev.) was formed in 1998 by merging the Leverkusen Yacht Club and the Leverkusen/Rhine-Wupper Sailing Club - two clubs who have already celebrated their thirtieth anniversary. The approximate membership is 1.001 (as at: 01.01.2010). The Y.C. Bayer considers it its duty to help its members practising sailing as a sport and to promote the up-and-coming yachtsmen and -women. By working together the members have created the necessary installations and equipment. An intensive programme of initial and ongoing training helps members to go about and enjoy their sailing safely and with environmental awareness. The successful and coordinated development of the club over the past three decades has created a sound basis for this, something which the merger has reinforced for the future.

With its various facilities, the club offers its members the opportunity to engage in a wide range of sporting and social activities. From the club's own dock with clubhouse it is possible to do short cruises around the Maas lakes. For dinghy sailors there is a landing stage with boathouse in the "Nievenheimer Seenplatte" recreation area in Dormagen. Club boats for regattas, for training or simply for sporting pleasure complete the facilities. To maintain the club's practical assets, there are boathouses to accommodate the boats during the winter.

Under the direction of experienced and licensed expert trainers an extensive initial and ongoing training programme is implemented. Young people, and in particular junior yachtsmen are offered a broad range of facilities, from the junior certificate to Regatta training. Bluewater sailing, chain cruises and club regattas are organised. The winter half-year is shortened by an entertaining and interesting programme of talks and much more.

Every month, each member receives the magazine "Wassersport im Westen". In addition to matters of interest for yachtsmen in North Rhine-Westphalia and Holland, under the heading of "Club Notes" it contains our notices. Contacts and flow of information between members are boosted by handouts and informative literature in the business office as well as circulars to members.

The life of the club is determined to a major extent, however, by members' personal initiative and their willingness to get actively involved. Interested? Then welcome on board. Just write to the club at: geschaeftsstelle@8a36ee8ad8ce431fb52279871052b542yacht-club-bayer.de
